SOLAR TIME LEARNING NOTES
Understand the model behind the view.
Learn what Solar Time calculates, what it simplifies for readability, and how to test each idea.
Begin with something you can observe
Each path starts in the live model, asks you to change one control, and explains what should remain fixed.
How these notes are prepared
Each article starts from a behavior that can be reproduced in Solar Time. It then separates three things that are easy to confuse: an astronomical quantity, the app's simplified model of that quantity, and the visual presentation used to make it legible on a screen. External references support general astronomy; statements about the interface and rendering describe Solar Time's own implementation.
The notes are reviewed when the related feature changes. They do not claim observatory precision, and they identify cases where visual scale, long-range approximation, or cinematic timing differs from physical reality. Corrections can be sent to Lyrikey@Naver.com.
Start with an experiment
- Return to the overviewOpen Solar Time and press 0 so scale and camera comparisons begin from a known composition.
- Change one controlAdjust time, true-size mode, a moon size, or constellation lines while leaving the other controls unchanged.
- Compare the explanationUse the matching note to decide whether the change represents astronomy, presentation, or a transition between the two.
